Volunteer Application and Screening Instructions for new, first-year volunteers serving in Northern Virginia, VA
CEF takes seriously our responsibility to protect the children we serve, the volunteers who serve the children, our partnering churches, and the good name of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for your decision to volunteer with Child Evangelism Fellowship®. We are excited about all that God is going to do as churches all across the nation share the Gospel with unchurched children in their communities. The following are some important considerations for all who will volunteer and have direct contact with the children through CEF ministries.
There are three easy steps required for volunteer participation:
STEP 1: INTERVIEW and ID Check
Your Good News Club team leader or CEF Staff will complete this step before serving.
STEP 2: COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS BEFORE THE ONLINE APPLICATION ON STEP 3
A. Download and Read the Child Protection Policy Introduction.
B. Watch the 9-minute presentation (Protecting Today's Child) or listen at 1-866-878-4182.
C. Click the link and submit the form using the link: Ministry Compliance Agreement
D. Gather the following information to answer the questions online:

- CEF conducts online background checks and volunteer applications using a secure server, ensuring your information is safe.
- All volunteers and paid workers are required to undergo a national criminal background check and complete a volunteer application process in accordance with Child Evangelism Fellowship policies.
- All approved workers will receive an official and required nametag upon completion of steps 1-3.
- You will need to access the internet to complete the screening process. CEF will pay your screening fee.

- You will be required to present a photo ID (such as a driver's license, passport, or school ID) and answer a few interview questions.
STEP 2: COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING STEPS BEFORE THE ONLINE APPLICATION ON STEP 3
A. Download and Read the Child Protection Policy Introduction.
B. Watch the 9-minute presentation (Protecting Today's Child) or listen at 1-866-878-4182.
C. Click the link and submit the form using the link: Ministry Compliance Agreement
D. Gather the following information to answer the questions online:
- Your salvation testimony
- Contact information of your References (name, church, address, phone, email). References should include: pastor or church leader, previous employer, and two personal references. No relatives, please.
- Driver’s License (if applicable) and Social Security Number, or Passport number.

STEP 3: APPLY ONLINE
After gathering the information requested in Step 2, it will take you approximately 15 minutes to complete the online application. Note: The system will time out after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity, and you must complete the form within 40 minutes.

Please complete steps 2-3 as soon as possible. You will receive an email confirmation once your screening has been submitted, and we will notify your key contact person that you have completed steps 2 and 3.
