Partnering With Churches In Northern Virginia!
The Partnership Plan
Your church can play a vital role in winning children for the Lord Jesus Christ through this dynamic ministry to children and their families. To reach children with the Word of God, the primary ministries of CEF are afterschool Good News Clubs (during the school year) and 5-Day Clubs (during the summer time). The plan is both simple and effective. CEF will train volunteers from your church to go into the school and teach the club. We, CEF of Northern Virginia, want to serve your church by partnering with you to bring together the five pieces of the partnership plan.
1. INITIATE a Good News Club in Your Community
Good News Club in a public elementary school is the key to evangelizing, discipling, and establishing the children and their families in your local church. It is not against the law to teach God's Word in public schools. CEF has a Supreme Court ruling as of 2001. God has opened "for us a door to speak the word," and we have the responsibility to go through that open door and take the undiluted Gospel into the public schools. There are three essential components to make it happen: training, tools, and team. CEF will provide Good News Club training for your volunteers as well as ongoing training and support. The tools and materials for your club are available for approximately $700 per year. The team of volunteers is provided by your local church as part of your church ministry and is open to screened teens, adults, and seniors who love children and want to see them come to Christ.
2. IDENTIFY the Target School in Your Community
The outreach plan for your church begins in the neighborhood right around your church and reaches to the elementary school(s) in your area. Your church identifies the target elementary school(s) and CEF will provide demographic information, serve as liaison with the public school and provide training and the tools your church team will need to launch your ministry in a public elementary school. Once the target school is identified, we will work with your key contact person.
3. INVOLVE Your Church in Reaching the Community
Your church needs to form a team of three to five people who love the Lord and the children and sense God's call. The team should be willing to work one hour or one and a half hours per week plus preparation time. For the safety of the children and the protection of your ministry and ours, CEF requires all volunteers to pass the screenings required by our Child Protection Policy. And then we set up a 6-hour basic training for your team. After the team is trained, CEF goes to the school and see if a room is available. After that, we go to the county public school website to submit a building usage request. When we get the approval from the county public school authorities, we submit the parental permission form to the school for approval and distribution. The club normally starts in October and ends in April the following year.
4. IMPACT the Children of Your Community
During the summer time, we primarily focus on teaching teens through the CYIA (Christian Youth In Action) training school, so the trained teens, or adults, minister to neighborhood children through 5-Day Clubs. These CYIA summer missionaries go to places like homes, playgrounds, or churches in order to do 5-Day Clubs. 5-Day Clubs are the same format as Good News Clubs, including action-packed songs, memory verses, and a Bible lesson with a clear presentation of the Gospel. We call 5-Day Clubs "VBS on the road," reaching unchurched children around the neighborhood.
5. INCREASE Your Impact in the Community
Partnering together with CEF will increase the impact on your community. Churches which have partnered with CEF have testified of being able to reach families through this simple and effective approach to ministry. In the past years, hundreds of children heard the Gospel and many of them placed their faith in Christ for salvation. Previously unreached children and families are attending church regularly. Many schools have an ongoing evangelism and discipleship program. God's blessing was on this ministry, and God has blessed CEF of Northern Virginia by allowing this ministry to reach our goal of having over 60 Good News Clubs. However, there are over 330 public elementary schools in Northern Virginia. How can we "Send the Light" of Jesus Christ into these remaining schools? "One More Child, One More Family, One More School" is our motto. We can go together for His glory and His kingdom. God will bless your church by being a part of this blessing.
