Executive Director Wayne Rautio

and his wife, Diane

I, Wayne Rautio, was born and raised in a Finnish Apostolic Church in northern Michigan.  I first became involved in Christian work at a Bible conference in New Hampshire in 1964, where I met my wife Diane.  We went from there to Bibletown Community Church in Boca Raton, Florida.  And then into Child Evangelism Fellowship® in 1972.  We served as local directors of Palm Beach County Florida for two years.  I attended Word of Life Bible Institute, and while there taught a class on child evangelism.  We spent two tours overseas with CEF®, from 1976 – 1984 in Finland and Germany.  I’ve made two teaching trips to Russia in 1996 and 1997 with Campus Crusade for Christ, teaching at the New Life Bible College in Moscow.  I made another trip with Campus Crusade for Christ in March of 2004, teaching in the Bible College in Minsk, Belarus. After leaving Belarus, I spent one week in the Baltics, (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) speaking to the CEF people in those Countries.  Diane and I (Wayne) made yet another trip to Russia, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia the month of September 2006.  This will be a teaching and a time of encouraging the Child Evangelism Fellowship workers in those Countries.  We served on the state board of CEF of New Hampshire.  I praise Him for calling us to work in CEF of Northern Virginia because of the international community.  I assumed the directorship here Jan. 1. 1999.  Besides my involvement with Child Evangelism Fellowship and Campus Crusade for Christ, I’ve worked in many churches teaching Sunday school teachers and also worked with churches giving seminars on the Responsibility of Christian Parents.  I feel that my strengths are in organization, motivation and getting other people involved.  I have always been a teacher or leader in every field I’ve been in.  My love is to see children come to know the Lord as early as possible and then grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
